Research conducted in May 2011 by The Pew Internet Project finds that one-third of American adults – 35% – own smartphones. For this survey, smartphones included iPhones and Blackberry devices, as well as phones running the Android, Windows, or Palm operating systems. And, according to a study released in October 2011, by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism in collaboration with The Economist Group, 11% of U.S. adults now own a tablet computer of some kind. Businesses can capitalize on this trend by adding custom branded tablet, iPad, iPhone, and smart phone accessories to their marketing arsenal.
